Overview
You can easily delete any sample runs you are no longer interested in keeping within your CZ ID account (e.g., test, failed, or old runs). Here we provide step-by-step instructions on how to delete sample runs and important considerations for run deletion.
Delete Sample Runs from Project Page
You can delete one or more sample runs by selecting samples from the Sample Table shown within a Project page. Review deletion considerations when deciding to delete sample runs.
Steps to Delete Sample Runs from Project Page
- Go to the project of interest and select the pipeline tab from which you want to delete sample runs.
- Select one or more sample runs to delete from the Sample Table.
- Click the Delete icon ( ).
- A modal will appear to confirm sample run deletion. Read the warning and click the Delete button.
- You will see a confirmation message on the upper right corner of the page.
Delete Runs from Sample Report Page
You can delete individual sample runs through the Sample Report page. Review deletion considerations when deciding to delete sample runs.
Steps to Delete Sample Run from Sample Report Page
- Select pipeline run of interest to view the Sample Report page for the run you wish to delete. Make sure to select the report for the pipeline run you intend to delete. For example, some samples may have a report for mNGS and AMR pipeline runs.
- Click the More Actions icon () located on the top right of the Sample Report page.
- Click "Delete mNGS run" for sample reports from metagenomic samples, "Delete AMR Run" for antimicrobial resistance samples, or "Delete CG Run" for consensus genomes from the More Actions dropdown menu.
- A modal will appear to confirm sample run deletion. Read the warning and click the Delete button.
- You will see a confirmation message on the upper right corner of the page. The page will default to another sample report if there are other runs for the sample. Otherwise, you will be redirected to the Project page after deleting the sample run.
Run Deletion Considerations
If you decide to delete sample runs from your account, note the following:
- There is a delay between sample upload and when you will be able to delete the sample run. After uploading a sample, you may need to wait up to 18 hours for the delete icon to become active for that sample.
- Deleted sample runs will no longer be available to you AND collaborators.
- Sample run data (raw data and metadata) and associated products (reports, intermediate files, and downloads) will be deleted.
- Visualizations (i.e., heatmaps and phylogenetic trees) that include deleted sample runs will be automatically re-calculated without the deleted samples.
- Bulk download files available through the Downloads page containing data and results from deleted sample runs will also be deleted.
- Sample run deletion will NOT affect background models. You will still have access to the background models listed in your account.
- You will NOT be able to undo sample run deletion once completed.
Sample run deletion is performed by type of pipeline. Therefore, if you run a given sample through multiple pipelines, each sample run is considered independent of each other. Keep in mind that:
- If you have consensus genomes obtained through the sample report for a metagenomic (mNGS) sample and you delete the mNGS run, all the consensus genomes will be preserved in your account.
- If you run the antimicrobial resistance pipeline (AMR) from an mNGS sample and you delete the mNGS run, the AMR run will be preserved in your account and vice versa.
- Note that the deprecated version of AMR does not have its own pipeline. AMR results from the deprecated module are extracted from the mNGS pipeline. Therefore, if you delete a mNGS sample run that has AMR results from the deprecated module, all AMR data and results will also be deleted.
