Overview
You can easily find data of interest within your CZ ID account. Here we list steps to find projects and samples through sorting, filtering, and/or searching.
Sorting Projects
You may want to sort projects based on a attribute to quickly find projects of interest or organize the project list a certain way. The column header indicating the attribute used to sort the table will be highlighted in blue. Within CZ ID, you can sort projects by:
- Project name
- Creation date (date uploaded to the platform)
- Host
- Sample type
- Counts (number of samples)
Steps to Sort Projects
- Select the Projects tab (default) from the Discovery page.
- Choose a column header by which to sort projects and click the chevron icon to sort the column. Downward chevron indicates the column is sorted alphabetically from "Z to A" for text entries and from highest to lowest for numerical data. Click the chevron to sort values in reverse the order.
Sorting Samples
You may want to sort samples based on metadata or pipeline metrics to quickly find samples of interest. The column header indicating the attribute used to sort the Sample table will be highlighted in blue. Within CZ ID, you can sort samples by metadata and pipeline run metrics.
Steps to Sort All Available Samples in Your Account
- Select the Samples tab from the Discovery page.
- Select the tab for the pipeline of interest.
- Choose a column header by which to sort projects and click the chevron icon to sort the column. Downward chevron indicates the column is sorted alphabetically from "Z to A" for text entries and from highest to lowest for numerical data. Click the chevron to sort values in reverse the order.
Steps to Sort Samples within a Project
- Find project of interest by navigating to the Projects tab within the Discovery page.
- Select project of interest from the Samples Table.
- Once in the Project page, select the tab for the pipeline of interest.
- Choose a column header by which to sort projects and click the chevron icon to sort the column. Downward chevron indicates the column is sorted alphabetically from "Z to A" for text entries and from highest to lowest for numerical data. Click the chevron to sort values in reverse the order.
Filtering Projects and Samples
Filtering projects or samples can be useful to quickly find samples of interest for downstream analysis (e.g., phylogenetic trees or heatmaps). You can filter at the project or sample level using taxon and metadata filters found on the left side panel of Discovery and Project pages.
- Taxon Filters: Taxon filters include taxon and annotation filters. The taxon filter allows you specify taxa of interest and their presence at a specified threshold (e.g., NT rPM > 100; NR rPM >1). Learn more about threshold filters here. The annotation filter enables you to search for taxa annotated based on match confidence. Learn more about the annotation feature here.
- Metadata Filters: Metadata filters enable you to search for projects or samples with metadata of interest. You can filter based on sample location, timeframe when sample was uploaded to your account (e.g., within the last month or year), sample visibility (privacy status), host, and sample type.
Applying and Removing Filters
You can combine any of the filters to refine your searches. Look at the Filter icon (), Filter panel, and number of samples to keep track of applied filters.
- Filter Icon: Specifies the number of applied filters. Click the icon to show or hide the Filter panel.
- Filter Panel: Indicates specified filters (highlighted in blue text boxes). To remove any filter, simply click the "X" by the filter you want to remove.
- Number of Samples: Indicates the number of samples or projects meeting specified filters. Click "Clear Filters" by the number of projects or samples if you want to remove all the applied filters.
Searching Private and Public Data
You can search your projects and public data to find samples of interest.
Steps to Search Data
- Select "My Data" or "Public" pages to search your samples or public data, respectively.
- Enter key terms in the search box to find data of interest. Key terms can refer to projects, samples, or a taxon.
- Select the desired project, sample, or taxon from the list that will appear under the search box based on provided key terms. Matches to the key terms will specify if the data was found at the Project, Sample, or Taxon level.
