Overview
CZ ID's annotation feature allows you to mark taxa listed in the Sample Report Table and keep track of your analysis. You can mark taxa at the genus and/or species level as “Confirmed”, “Not a hit”, or “Inconclusive”. Annotating the taxon hits will not affect any of the downstream analyses but it will enable you to filter the sample report by annotation. All project members can view annotations added to sample reports.
Annotating Taxa
To annotate taxa:
1. Click the tag ( ) to the left of the taxon name of interest. When you click the tag, a dropdown menu will appear.
2. Click the appropriate annotation from the dropdown menu.
- Hit: You are confident in the taxon match (e.g., you have confirmed by looking at coverage and/or running BLAST)
- Not a hit: You confirmed the taxon is a false positive.
- Inconclusive: Not enough evidence to confirm the detected taxon as a true or false positive.
- None: Use this option to clear annotations from the taxon.
3. Annotated taxa will have a green tag.
4. Once you add annotations, you can use the Annotation Filter to filter the sample report table and quickly find taxa of interest.
