If you want to run samples using the latest pipeline version for a given analysis type (i.e. metagenomics, antimicrobial resistance, or viral consensus genome assembly), you will need to create a new project and upload samples to the newly created project. If you would like to re-run samples that are already within projects that use an old pipeline version, you will need to reupload samples to a newly created project.
To take advantage of the latest pipeline version available, you need to upload samples to a newly created project. This is because the pipeline version for each analysis type is automatically assigned upon project creation. Therefore, the pipeline version that will be used to run your samples is tied to the project containing the samples. For example, if your project is pinned to Illumina mNGS pipeline v8.1.0, all new samples uploaded to that project will run on major pipeline v8 for metagenomic analysis. This pipeline version pinning by project helps to ensure that all sample runs within a project are comparable*. However, in the future, we hope to allow more flexibility for users to choose pipeline versions of interest.
*Note: Projects created before February 08, 2024 may include multiple major pipeline versions.
